[For Civil/State Services (Prelims & Mains), UGC-CBCS, NET, PGT/TGT, SSC-CGL Examinations and for B.A. (Pass/Honours) and M.A. Classes]
In the first place, Indian Administration attempts to cover the syllabus of the civil services competitive examinations held by the U.P.S.C. and Public Service Commission(s) of various states. Secondly, the book covers the Evolution of Indian Administration from Kautilya to the Present Day so far as is known to the authors; no other book on Indian Administration covers such a wide gamut. Thirdly, the book is a treatise on both, government and administration of India. It devotes a long chapter on the main features of Indian polity. Fourthly, for the first time an attempt has been made to discus state and local administration in such details, and a separate chapter on District Planning may be cited as an example. Belong as we do to the state of Madhya Pradesh, it is but natural to base the discussion of state Government and Administration and its various bodies on the experience of Madhya Pradesh. The same is true of local bodies.
The Author has added some new topics. Mention may be made of Prime Minister’s Office, State Admin: Department/Directorates, Civil Service Examination: New Scheme, Integrity and Corruption in India, Lokpal and Lokayuktas: Indian Ombudsman, Local Self- Government, Panchayati Raj, Urban and Rural Development in India.
The Author has included some enlarged and updated subjects: Lokpal and Lokayukta (Amendment), 2015, Rural and Urban Development Programme of Present government and NITI Aayog.
